Deadline for national retirement villages Code of Conduct extended – make sure you have your say

0

As we covered here, the Property Council’s Retirement Living Council (RLC) has developed the voluntary code with support from the national Retirement Village Residents Association.

The deadline to provide feedback on the Code has now been extended to Monday 6 August – driven by a late surge of residents making submissions.

We would urge you to have your say too.

While voluntary, the Code will set down ‘rules’ for retirement village operators across Australia, particularly around the issue of dispute resolution.

We know from the villages.com.au 2018 National Resident Survey that the poor handling of complaints is one of the major drivers of residents’ dissatisfaction.

With the NSW Government planning to introduce a mandatory Code of Conduct – and other states likely to follow – they may take some cues from this Code too.

Why not make your voice known?

You can read the Code and find out how to make a submission here.
