Daughter catches aged care worker assaulting father with camera – reminder to report concerns straightaway

Like many, we were shocked last week by the video of a Sydney aged care worker accused of assaulting an elderly resident with dementia at a Seaforth aged care facility.

The man’s daughter has told Nine News that she first noticed bruising on her father’s body months ago. When his condition deteriorated further, she set up the camera.

The employee has been dismissed and NSW Police are now investigating, but their message is clear.

If you suspect an elderly person has been or may be physically harmed, report the matter to the police straightaway.

A reminder too that if you do have any concerns about your loved one’s care, you can raise them with the facility. If you’re unhappy with their response, you can also contact the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner on 1800 550 552.
