Cyclone Debbie – do you protect your own home and family or your frail residents?

0

Aged care workers face a tough choice – do they go to their jobs and provide support to our frail and elderly or stay home with their own families and protect their own houses?

Tropical Cyclone Debbie has hit many communities hard this week with widespread flooding and damage across Queensland.

Nursing homes will still be working throughout the crisis, coping with power failures, lack of supplies and staff shortages – all while being separated from their loved ones.

Some of these staff will even be caring for residents who have been evacuated from other facilities, adding to their own workloads.

We thank them for their efforts – and hope that everyone stays safe during this difficult time.
