It’s true – and it really will be ‘unsinkable’. The New Titanic is being built at a cost of ¥1bn ($A190 million) in the landlocked Chinese province of Sichuan as the main attraction for a new amusement park.
Construction is well underway on the 296-metre replica, which includes a ballroom, theatre, swimming pool and cabins where visitors will be able to enjoy themed parties and games.
There’s even plans for a simulation experience to give people a taste of what it felt like for those on board when the ship famously hit an iceberg and sank in 1912 (bad taste or what?)
It’s not the first life-size replica China has built either – they already have full-size versions of London’s Tower Bridge, the Eiffel Tower, the White House and even our own Sydney Opera House.
However it does make us wonder what happened to Aussie billionaire and former pollie Clive Palmer’s plan to build a real floating version of the ill-fated ship which he announced in 2013.
We’re guessing it’s sunk.
