Yes, it’s true. UK researchers have revealed they’ve developed laser stickers that can send out a beam of light and can even be attached to contact lenses for a real-life Clark Kent experience.
The flexible stickers are made from an ultra-thin membrane, less than a thousandth of a millimetre thick, while the laser itself is made from an organic polymer similar to a smartphone screen.
Using a cow’s eye as the model, the researchers were able to put a sticker on a contact lense and used it to emit a green laser beam into a screen.
Sadly the scientists say we won’t be able to use the lenses to destroy our enemies.
Instead the lasers, which can also be stuck to banknotes and fingernails, would act as a “wearable” security tag – simply scan your eye for authentication to access your home, car and more.
So you might not be saving the world, but at least you’ll save yourself from being locked out.
