Lowest prices are far from the beginning’ as this former Bunnings warehouse where the NSW Government is transforming into its latest COVID-19 mass vaccination centre.

Up to 20,000 people a week could receive a Pfizer (aged 40 to 50) or AstraZeneca (over 50) vaccination at the former Bunnings warehouse in Belmont, Lake Macquarie, which is 137km north of Sydney.

The first vaccine centre at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush has been able to vaccinate at least 5,000 people a day.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said three weeks ago the Hunter region was the preferred location for a second hub. The former Bunnings warehouse, which has ample parking, is scheduled to be open in mid-July.

Let’s hope the sausage sizzle makes an appearance.
