It’s the hottest ticket item on the shelves at Ada Community Library – but you won’t find it on any major bestseller lists.
That’s because The Adventures of Dillon’s Crismis by Dillon His Self – a stirring tale weighing in at more than 80 pages, complete with full-colour illustrations – was sneakily left in the library in Boise, Idaho by its eight-year-old author.
“Imagine our surprise when Dillon’s Mum called to tell us that her son had authored an entire book, shelved it at the Lake Hazel Branch, then announced to his family later that he had written a book and it could be checked out at the library.
“Dillon’s book is an impressive 88 pages, complete with full-colour illustrations and even a library spine label, which came in handy when we located it for his Mum to come ‘check out’,” library staff said on Facebook.
Since the library catalogued it, the book – which sees Dillon sucked through a portal to the first Thanksgiving after a bomb blows up his Christmas tree – has proved popular with borrowers, with a wait list quickly forming for the young wordsmith’s authorial debut.
And if you can’t get enough of Dillon’s heroic exploits, fear not: there’s a sequel on the way.
