Bubbly personality: woman, 108, credits long life to champagne

Talk about a bubbly personality.

A British woman, 108, has credited her long life to drinking champagne.

Dorothy Flowers, a resident at a care home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, recently celebrated her milestone birthday with a glass of her favourite refreshment.

Staff from the aged care home told Yahoo the drink held the key to her longevity.

“Her real secret for longevity though has to be champagne,” resident manager Helene Ballinger said.

“It’s the only thing we ever see her finish a glass of.’

Ms Flowers was inundated with bottles of bubbly, more than 650 cards, flowers and chocolate for the special occasion.

A recent study published in Wine Spectator supported her argument, showing that moderate, daily wine drinkers live longer than those who do not.

Ms Flowers lived independently until the ripe old age of 104, when she moved into the home.

Welcome news for wine lovers.
