Brisbane City Council is set to ban keeping peacocks and peahens in residential areas under a proposed new animal law after several complaints in the last year regarding the amorous avians.
“Council has received 11 noise complaints about peafowl, which can be excessive during mating season,” a council spokesman told the Brisbane Times.
Currently, up to 20 peacocks can be kept on a property more than 800 square metres and up to six on premises under 800 square metres.
Having watched this video here, we can see why your neighbours might find your loved-up pets a little irritating.
But the news that current peafowl owners will need to surrender their pets if the law goes ahead has not gone down well with them.
Looks like the Council will have another fowl problem to solve.
