The Queensland city has been named our sex toy capital for the second year running by online adult store Femplay, based on their number of adult toy sales.
“A close second is Cairns which came in at number one a couple of years ago, seems it isn’t as hot as it used to be,” a Femplay spokesperson said.
They were followed by Sydney, Townsville, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Locals were not so surprised though, based on comments on the local paper’s Facebook page about the win.
“I think it’s because there isn’t anything to do in town, people have to find ways to have fun,” one man wrote.
Others were not so sure the title was as well-deserved.
“I visited Toowoomba last month,” another comment reads. “Great place, great people but I don’t see sexy coming from Toowoomba.”
The Garden City does seem an unlikely winner to us. Just last year a local group City Women Toowoomba supported by mayor Paul Antonio led a campaign to keep the city “porn-free”, with over 200 men gathering in the town’s centre to pledge not to watch porn.
But if the handcuffs fit?
