The US President made the statement this week after previously sending out a tweet that many read as a defence of Rob Porter, the White House Staff Secretary who resigned after being accused of abuse by two ex-wives.
The President also said Porter did “a very good job when he was in the White House. And we hope he has a wonderful career”.
No direct mention of domestic abuse or the two women who made the allegations.
Of course, it’s not the first time the President’s been slammed for not criticising an act of violence or hatred. Last year, it took him more than two days to condemn the white supremacist groups who set off violent riots in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Trump says it “almost wouldn’t even have to be said” that he opposes domestic violence.
No, Mr President, you do need to say it – and more.
