Only in America: Trump says polar ice caps are at “setting records” – but it’s for melting

Asked if he believed in climate change during an interview with conservative broadcaster Piers Morgan, the US President said the climate was “cooling” and “heating”.

A December 2017 tweet from the President

“The ice caps were going to melt, they were going to be gone by now, but now they’re setting records, so okay, they’re at a record level,” he said.

That’s despite the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) publishing a press release in March last year headlined “Sea Ice Extent Sinks to Record Lows at Both Poles”.

But considering this is a man who once called climate change a hoax spread by China and whose administration has already removed the word climate change from its Environmental Protection Agency, we’re not surprised.

Trump has stated before he doesn’t like getting Pinocchios – maybe he should start checking his own facts.
