It’s no secret that there are a lot of good people working in aged care.
A story that came to our attention this week provides just another reminder as to how special the people in the industry really are.
Presbyterian Aged Care Centre located in Stockton, a beachside suburb near the Newcastle CBD, had to evacuate 30 residents last week after heavy winds saw the roof partially blown off the facility’s dining room.
The nearby HammondCare Waratah facility (pictured above) stepped in to lend a helping hand, accommodating 23 of the aged care residents who were affected by the winds.
HammondCare General Manager Residential Care, Angela Raguz, says the aged care provider was more than happy to lend another provider a helping hand.
“After a well-coordinated transfer, the residents had a good sleep last night and are in good spirits,” she said.
“This is a great example of two aged care providers working together to ensure quality residential care can continue in difficult circumstances.”
Going the extra mile is not unusual for HammondCare.
