Adelaide council mocked online for suggestively shaped skate park plan

The City of Tea Tree Gully, in the South Australian capital’s north-east, had taken to social media to ask for feedback on an aerial image of the design for a new skate park in Bentley Reserve, Holden Hill.

But the plan backfired spectacularly when hundreds of commenters pointed out the design bears an uncanny resemblance to a part of the male anatomy.

The Council quickly realised their embarrassing error and removed the post, but not before it had done the rounds online and grabbed headlines globally.

Its spokesperson claimed the suggestively shaped plan did not raise any eyebrows before it was uploaded but said the Council has since began work on a new design.

They also admitted to enjoying the unusual attention since the story broke.

Balls up or elaborate publicity stunt?
