Retirement living operator LDK Healthcare is offering residents at its two villages – The Landings in Sydney’s Turramurra and its under-construction village at Tuggeranong in Canberra – a ‘One Move Promise’ contract that promises residents won’t have to leave the village when they are no longer independent.
At The Landings – which has 220 homes – the provider has signed up 98% of its 300-plus residents, giving up their current Deferred Management Fee (DMF) which delivers a future capital gain when the resident sells their home for the guarantee of lifelong support.
Under their ‘membership’ model, LDK will provide care into people’s homes with a full care team on site 24/7. Couples can stay together, even if one person’s care needs increase.
It’s a big act of trust – but one that has paid off. LDK says it has now sold all its units and now has a waiting list, with prices also going up. Their second Canberra village is also selling well.
The Royal Commission into Aged Care has openly stated it wants to see more people staying at home with services delivered to them to help them ‘age in place’.
Could this be a model we see more operators taking up?
