Florida retirement village resident Rosalind Guttmann and Spencer Sleyon, a 22-year-old New York rapper and hip-hop producer, became friends after playing over 300 games of ‘Words With Friends’, a multi-player online game similar to Scrabble.

Roz had impressed Spencer when she opened their first game with the word ‘phat’ – the hip-hop slang for ‘excellent’ – and they soon started messaging each other as they played.

The pair had fallen out of touch for a while when Spencer briefly stopped playing the game, but when a pastor heard Spencer’s story, she offered to fly him to Florida to meet Rosalind face-to-face.

As you can see, they clearly hit it off, though Spencer was quick to point out that he had come out on top of their battles, winning 210 games to Roz’s 114.

They’re now back to their regular online sparring however they do have a new way to connect – they’ve just become friends on Facebook.
