Only in America: Trump demands eightfold increase in US nuclear stockpile

0

NBC News is reporting the US President told his national security leaders that he wanted to increase the United States’ nuclear arsenal to around 32,000 – the same amount of nuclear weapons the US had in the late 1960s – during a July meeting.

The US currently has about 4,000 nuclear weapons in its stockpile, based on figures from the Federation of American Scientists – enough atomic firepower to destroy most of the world.

NBC suggests that Trump’s advisers talked him down from this request and the President has since denied the report – on Twitter of course.

However it’s not the first time however Trump has hinted at his enthusiasm for atomic weapons. A previous report alleged that the President has repeatedly asked military advisers why the US doesn’t make greater use of its stockpile.

Maybe he needs a history lesson?

Meanwhile a new poll shows 46 per cent of Americans believe that major news outlets invent “fake news” about Trump.

Believe me, I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
