Yes, it’s true. Billed as New Zealand’s first heavy equipment playground, ‘Dig This’ in Invercargill lets users operate bulldozers, excavators, mini excavators and skid steer loaders in a giant gravel pit.
You can choose from nine activities ranging from smashing cars into tiny pieces to scooping up gravel and shifting tyres – all without the need for a driver’s license (we’re not sure about the wisdom of this).
There’s even a ‘Mini-Dig’ option aimed at the four to 100-year-old age bracket for younger would-be construction workers (or adults who aren’t as keen to get their hands dirty).
Created by NZ local Ed Mumm who previously opened two ‘Dig This’ parks in the US, they also cater for stag and hens parties (let’s hope they breath test beforehand).
The park’s the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, but it turns out Invercargill’s not such an unusual location. The city is home to Bill Richardson Transport World, which has the largest private rare vehicle collection in the world, and the Classic Motorcycle Mecca museum, with over 300 motorbikes.
Well, if you need to get rid of hubby for the weekend?
