Desperate for a loo? There’s an app for that – in New York

Billed as “the most unexpected VIP e-ticket in town”, Rockaloo not only allows you to find a bathroom, but reserve it – just like Airbnb – in over 130 different restaurants, bars and cafés across the city.

While there are similar apps like Where 2 Wee and Toilet Finder, it’s the first app to let users book a date with the porcelain.

Simply make a reservation, show the host your pass when you arrive and you can head straight for the loo without having to wait in line or order a $40 steak.

You’ll also get access to the bathroom for one hour – perfect for those times when ‘tummy trouble’ strikes – all for just US$0.99 (AUD$1.25) to $8.99 ($11.30) with the profits split between the app and the establishment and a portion going to charity.

So will it prove popular?

We think so. While many cities have free public toilets everywhere, New York City only has 15 street public toilets for its 8.5 million residents and 60 million tourists.

Now that’s sweet relief.
