What do The Hilton, Hayman Island Resort, Westin Hotels in Sendai and Delhi and the Pan Pacific in Singapore all have in common?
They were all fitted out by interior architecture firm, CHADA – which has now designed its first residential aged care facility.
Set to open in October, the $60 million SummitCare at Baulkham Hills is a 186-suite residential building with facilities including a rooftop garden, a café, hairdresser and nail spa, wellness centre, family accommodation and six couples’ suites.
So why did SummitCare opt for a hotel designer for its ninth facility?
Aged care homes go high-end
SummitCare director Peter Wohl says they made the decision because people’s expectations for future aged care environments is now so high.
The Baulkham Hills facility was designed to feel like a “beautiful home” – and it looks it. Check out these pictures – you could mistake it for a five-star hotel.
They’re not the only Australian architect to turn aged care design on its head either.
