Is this the most Aussie thing ever? Warrnambool’s Bunnings now one of its top-rated ‘restaurants’

It’s true. The sausage sizzle at the rural Victorian town’s Bunnings is now ranked 9th out of 93 local eateries on TripAdvisor after someone listed the store on the site.

bunnings-2At the time of writing, the store had attracted 70 reviews – 95 per cent of which gave the sizzle a five star rating.

“I was in ‘fixings’ when I caught a whiff of the onions,” one reviewer writes. “Dropped everything to leg it over to the barbie. They had it all. The sauce, the onions, and that sausage. All wrapped up in the most amazing bread. We dined well that day.”

Some of the reviewers even claim to have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there.

And its popularity isn’t due to a lack of options in the local area – the town has a population of 30,000 and 92 other restaurants listed.

The page does list a few complaints about the lack of options for people with dietary requirements: “Love the idea, great setup however need to scrap the meat and add vegan options.”

Sorry vegans – it’s not the same without the snags.
