Police bust drug ring – in US’s biggest retirement village

0

Five people have been arrested and charged with drug offences at America’s largest retirement living community The Villages in Florida after undercover police bought methamphetamines and cannabis from a house there on three separate occasions, according to a local news station.

twitterArriving at the house with a search warrant, police also uncovered evidence that the culprits were linked to a recent string of golf cart thefts in the village, with a number of golf cart parts including windshields, seat cushions and tyres found (pictured inset).

The Villages, which is home to over 150,000 people, is famously so large that many of its residents use golf carts to drive around the community – making a sideline in cart spare parts a lucrative business.

It appears though that the homeowner’s niece was the mastermind behind the “golf cart chop shop” and he was unaware of the scam as he was not arrested.

It just goes to show – never let the kids move in.
