The US President’s tweets could be preserved as presidential records if a Democrat politician’s proposed ‘Covfefe’ Act is passed as legislation.
Mike Quigley has put forward the ‘Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically For Engagement’ Act which would require the National Archives to keep the President’s tweets and other social media posts.
Its name refers to Mr Trump’s infamous ‘covfefe’ Twitter post, which attracted widespread ridicule around the world.

“In order to maintain public trust in government, elected officials must answer for what they do and say; this includes 140-character tweets,” Mr Quigley said in a statement.
The law would stop the President, who has 32 million followers, from deleting his tweets, which are often filled with spelling and grammar mistakes – so far, he has deleted 18 including the ‘covfefe’ message.
The Act comes just as Gallup’s daily presidential tracking poll revealed Trump’s disapproval rating has hit a record high of 60 per cent – and he reached it faster than any modern president, Business Insider says.
The previous record was set by George H. W. Bush, who hit the same figures on his 1,290th day in office.
