Combining the “five-star hospitality of a grand hotel” with “a Disney-inspired spirit of ageless fun and discovery”, Big Rock Partners is leasing 239 independent living, assisted living and memory care units at Celebration, a master-planned community created by The Walt Disney Company in the mid-90’s that recreates the look of America’s iconic small towns.

They bought the nine acre site from Disney in 2014 for $4.5 million after signing an exclusive deal to offer seniors housing.

So what can its new residents expect?

The happiest place on earth

The facilities will include a rooftop sky bar where residents can watch Disney’s nightly fireworks display as well as a ‘stadium-style’ screening room for first-run movies, indoor pool and fitness centre.

Windsor is also located next to the local hospital and a new skilled nursing centre – something the developer says will appeal to residents.

“The first thing that’s attractive to people is the continuing of care,” Richard Ackerman, Big Rock Partners’ senior managing principal, said. “You can come in as a healthy 80-year-old and know that if something goes wrong with your health, you don’t have to leave.”

Unless you want to ride the rollercoaster next door of course.

With a background in nursing, Annie has spent over 20 years working in the health industry, including the coordination of medical support for international TV productions and major stadium events, plus education campaigns with a number of national health organisations. In recent years, she has also taken time out of the workforce to be a full-time carer, giving her first-hand experience of the challenges and rewards of this role.
