Picture living in a retirement village – with 2,500 neighbours. It’s the vision for residents at Aveo Springfield when their doors swing open tomorrow – it is destined to become Australia’s biggest retirement village.
The first stage of the $1 billion 2,500 home development includes 66 contemporary apartments and a prestige community hub.
Compare that to the average village which typically has between 80 and 150 homes when complete.
It’s not surprising then that Aveo is billing Springfield as our largest integrated retirement village – with a timeline to match. The 10-hectare site, located 21km from Ipswich, is part of a 15-plus year project designed to let locals age in place.
Catering for every stage of life
Future stages of the development will also include assisted living units, a wellness centre with GP’s and other allied health services and a 144-bed aged care facility – ensuring no one will have to move out of the community to seek more care.
The village is located in Springfield’s ‘Health City’ precinct opposite the Mater Private Hospital, giving residents access to healthcare in the wider community too.
Springfield is expected to have a population of over 100,000 by 2036, with 20 per cent of residents aged over 65.
The new village certainly has appeal for the locals. Over 80 per cent of sales enquiries for the 66 apartments in the first stage – priced from $298,000 to $709,000 – were from Ipswich residents.
Now imagine if we all had a ‘Springfield’ in our backyard.
