It’s not a hoax – Ray White Sherwood is spruiking the two- and three-bedroom townhouses in Sherwood Brisbane, priced from $595,000, with the added bonus “to help the budget”.
It’s a sly reference to the now-infamous Bernard Salt column in The Australian, which suggested that Gen Y are not buying homes – because they’re spending all their money on brunch.
So will it get the millennials to move in?
If you are indeed splashing out $22 on avocado toast a week as Bernard says, that’s $1,144 a year – not much compared to the cost of your mortgage – so we’re not convinced.
What’s on the menu for villages and aged care
Our real estate agents aren’t the only ones tapping into our love of brunch though.
Many of our retirement villages and aged care facilities now have their own café and restaurant – and some are even open to the public.
