With International Women’s Day this week, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has released a video featuring prominent female directors reading out some of the ridiculous reasons given by men for not appointing women.

Women now fill 25 per cent of ASX 200 board positions, up from just 8.3 per cent in 2009, but the AICD is pushing to make this 30 per cent by the end of 2018.

At an average of eight directors per board and 200 companies, this gives a potential of 1,600 directors. 25 per cent adds up to 400 women – but how many of these hold multiple positions?

An increase of five per cent is at best another 80 women – can’t we do better?

This clip is a great argument for it – see it here.
