Yes, it’s real. The iconic music venue The Basement in Sydney has just launched a club night that’s strictly for the over-40’s.
Called 40UP, the night will feature classic hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s including Barry White, Michael Jackson, Chic, Sister Sledge, Earth Wind & Fire, Prince and more.
Organised by well-known performers Steve Clisby and Stephen Ferris, it’s aimed at a generation who still want to party – without millennials getting in the way.
“We’ve taken the dinner, dance show concept and turned it on its head,” says Clisby, who is 70. “People are always telling me that the thing they love most about my gigs is the chance to get up and dance like they used to – to the music they love. Now there’s a show especially for them.”
Sounds great to us – why should you stop going out and having a good time just because you’re over a certain age?
Just a reminder – bring your ID. Partygoers will have to prove their age – and anyone younger than 40 must be accompanied by someone 40UP.
