16 million people have watched this video of a road being built in outback Australia – why?

The three-minute clip, which was taken by a drone, shows a crew tarring the 4.9km road over two days near the small town of Moora, 180km north of Perth.

It sounds bizarre, but the speed and precision of the roadworks is strangely mesmerising – so much so, it’s now received over 100,000 likes and been shared over 400,000 times.
