Watch virtual reality software light up the lives of people with dementia

UK tech company Tribemix and nursing home provider Quantum Care teamed up for the project which lets viewers experience a range of immersive 3D scenes including the beach, a forest and a coral reef.

Tribemix founder Alex Smale came up with the idea after seeing his elderly neighbours struggle to leave the house because of disability.

“When we began developing in VR for our commercial clients early this year, I thought ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we could take Stan and Dulcie to the beach?’. So I created a virtual reality experience to do just that,” he says.

Quantum Care then picked up on the project – with incredible results. Just watch the residents’ reactions as they use the technology.
