She was the ‘It Girl’ model, actress and TV presenter who graced our screens throughout the 90’s until the end of her two-year engagement to billionaire James Packer.
She packed up and moved to LA before retiring from public life ten years ago. Since then, Tziporah Atarah Malkah, as she’s now known, has found a new calling, working as a carer for people with dementia at a Melbourne nursing home.
On her Facebook page, she wrote: “I work in the health care industry and very much enjoy helping others. I am content in most ways and appreciate my life being a private one now.”
But instead of being left to her quiet life, the 42-year-old is back in the spotlight after tabloid Woman’s Day published pictures of her “shocking new life”.
These included paparazzi shots of her collecting her mail wearing a bed sheet for which they allegedly paid $10,000.
A public attack on a private person
It’s a disgraceful act – publicly “shaming” a woman who has stepped out of the limelight to care for our most vulnerable.
Malkah has hit back – posing in a lingerie shoot with rival New Idea and donating her “small fee” to an unnamed charity.
She says she was shocked to see herself back in the news for her body: “But…I got so much support from people, it was really heartening. Really, why should anyone feel ashamed about how they look when photographed without their knowledge?”
And her new career? “Life is much more rewarding now,” she says. “I wish I’d done this kind of geriatric psych work years ago.”
We say good on her.
