The global threat of terrorism has reportedly led the 83-year-old actor to legally change his name.
Why?
What’s in a name?
The British star had his birth name Maurice Micklewhite on his passport and claims the rise in airport security checks caused by ISIS meant he was continually being stopped by security.
“An airport security guard would say, ‘Hi, Michael Caine,’ and suddenly I’d give him a passport with a different name on it,” Caine is quoted as saying. “I could stand there for an hour. So I changed my name.”
He will now be legally known as Michael Caine, the stage moniker he first adopted in 1954 from the Humphrey Bogart film ‘The Caine Mutiny’ when he launched his career.
