The conversations of life

Now this is how to dance!

You may or may not be familiar with the infectious 2015 hit song, Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

But you are certain to be familiar with the stars of Hollywood’s golden age of musicals – Shirley Temple, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland, Cyd Charisse, Donald O’Connor, Rita Hayworth, Leslie Caron…  This video features them all in what is known as a ‘mash up’ – when two or more different musical or video or photographic elements are put together into a new creation.

In this case, the creator (Michael Binder) has taken clips from scores of dance sequences in some of the best loved films of the 30s, 40s and 50s and synced them together with the contemporary hit song.

Uptown Funk is undoubtedly a sensational contemporary dance track but the dance moves from yesteryear in this mash up prove that a dance beat is timeless… and so is the talent.  There’s nothing new that these guys can’t do!  Enjoy the clip.  It will put a spring in your step for the rest of the day!  (Scroll down if you want to see the actual video clip of Uptown Funk too.)

And below is the original clip of Uptown Funk:

Frank and Earnest love to have conversations about the things that matter in life to most people but especially to those of us with a few years behind us. We start some conversations, we pick up others, we share stories and ideas and try to stimulate thinking.
