Aged care provider Arcare has revealed the winners for its third annual Card Art competition.
Four women topped the field in the search for All Occasion and Season’s Greetings-themed cards, which will be professionally printed and distributed to residents, families and team members at Arcare:
All Occasion NSW: Jenny Cavill, 82 years old, Arcare Glenhaven
All Occasion QLD: Debbie Murphy, 80 years old, Arcare Seven Hills
All Occasion VIC: Wendy Burgis, 84 years old, Arcare Balnarring
Season’s Greetings National: Linda Woodward, 83 years old, Arcare Logan Reserve
According to Season’s Greetings category winner Linda (pictured, image from Arcare), her passion for art started with her mother’s ink sketches.
“I remember I was in Grade 5 at the Junction Park State School and they had a concertina between the classrooms, where we had to display our best pastel drawings. With pastels, I drew a creek with trees and their reflections,” she said.
“The inspector of our artwork had sent a letter to my parents saying it was the best artwork he had seen.”
The ladies beat close to 100 other artists across Arcare’s 47 villages to claim victory – which we think deserves some Congratulations cards, don’t you?
