We’ve all looked on with quite a bit of apprehension at rising food prices – but shoppers at Brighton Foodland supermarket in Adelaide are complaining that skyrocketing prices aren’t the troublesome part of their regular shop.
“Anyone else get massive electric shocks when doing the shopping at Brighton Foodland?” asked one regular, Shane Lavida, on a local Facebook page – and he was not alone.
It turns out that the portion of the store between the pet food aisles and the fridges is well-known to many local shoppers.
“It’s not a pleasant experience and I was never a natural break dancer until I started getting zapped there,” said another customer.
Franklin dos Santos, Foodland’s chief executive, is aware of the development, and assures locals the store is doing everything it can to stop the shocks.
“Fundamentally, there‘s a lot of moisture that occurs in the supermarket. If you think about the fridges, you think about the environment that you’re in, they discharge refrigeration moisture into the air,” he said.
At least the issue isn’t in the same aisle as the bug zappers.
