To celebrate Aged Care Employee Day, the winners of the 2022 Excellence in Age Services Awards were announced in a virtual ceremony.
The awards, supported by Leading Aged Services Australia which is now a part of peak body Aged & Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA), included the Retirement Living Manager of the Year.
“The winners exemplify the many hundreds of aged services providers across Australia whose staff deliver excellent services every day, with the goal of making the lives of older Australians better,” said ACCPA Interim CEO Paul Sadler.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, our aged care staff do a magnificent job in caring for and protecting the older people in their care in aged care homes or in home and community care.”
Burnie Brae, a North Brisbane-based Not For Profit community services provider established in 1984, won the Best Organisation Award.
It empowers a strong base of members and over 900 clients to connect with the community through the provision of in-home and centre-based support, care and wellbeing services, allied health and recreational and social activities.
“We are local community provider of quality care, social connection and support services and we have a big heart. On behalf of the organisation, I couldn’t be more delighted to be acknowledged by the sector and our peers, the nominees we were in the company of were of a high calibre,” said CEO Andrew Watson (main picture).
“Winning this award is a true testament to the positive spirit our amazing staff and volunteers passionately and consistently bring to our Burnie Brae community each day. We also recognise we could not do this without the support of our incredible members, clients, and community, who we have the pleasure of working and connecting with each day.”
Burnie Brae’s services encompass three key areas: care services, allied health services and member services. To create a connected community, the organisation also offer a range of social, educational, health and recreational activities events, a travel service, an onsite café and hair salon plus a hall is available for hire to the community.
