Aged care provider brings the farm to its Queensland residents

The imagination shown by many aged care operators to excite, stimulate, evoke happy memories and bring enjoyment to residents is amazing.

Aged care provider Arcare has brought the farm to residents at its home in North Lakes, a suburb in the Moreton Bay Region of Queensland.

A mobile petting zoo, Amazing Animals, was brought in to the delight of residents and their families.

Residents had the opportunity to feed and pat the farm animals, which included ducks, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, and baby animals such as piglets, a one-month-old calf and a three-week-old goat.

“I love you! I would take you home in a flash; I just need a bag big enough to steal him,” said resident Joyce Crawford (pictured with husband John) holding onto the baby goat.

John, who is also a resident at Arcare North Lakes and is visually impaired, had a great time feeding and cuddling the animals, enjoying the sensory experience.

The residents enjoyed their visit so much that they have already booked Amazing Animals for another visit.
