They were the duo that launched Neighbours to stardom – and now, as the curtain falls on Ramsay Street for good, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are coming back as Scott and Charlene to give the show a proper send-off.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison revealed that the on-screen couple – whose wedding episode pulled in more than two million viewers in Australia and 19 million in the UK – would make a return for the final episode of the beloved long-running soap.
“Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.
“We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I’m sure it will be for our viewers,” he said.
Neighbours was axed in February following 37 years on the air, after the UK’s Channel 5 – which had paid for the bulk of the production for a few years now – said it would pull the pin.
Its last episode will air on 1 August, 2022… so get the tissues ready.
