Only in America: Would you mix your cereal with orange juice?

Now, we here at The Donaldson Sisters consider ourselves a judgment-free publication, so if you for some reason would prefer to mix your cereal with orange juice instead of milk, we have good news and bad news for you.

The good news is that US fruit juice company Tropicana has invented a cereal which it claims is designed for orange juice.

Released on 4 May (which we’ve just learned is National Orange Juice Day over in the States), Tropicana Crunch cereal is made of grains that won’t go soggy in OJ’s high acidity, and with a sweet flavour to balance out the juice’s tartness – plus a paper straw in the box to drink the dregs afterwards.

According to Tropicana, its research shows that at least 15 million Americans have replaced the milk in their morning cereal with orange juice, with half of these doing so because it seemed tasty and a third because they liked OJ just that much.

“For those who are cereal curious like us, we made Tropicana Crunch. Cereal that’s down to be drowned in OJ. Honey almond clusters that are made to be spooned and sipped. A breakfast taste test we can all take together.

“Because whether you hate it or love it, you won’t know until you try it,” the company said.

The bad news? Tropicana Crunch was only available for a limited time – and it’s all sold out.
