Only in America: Trump reportedly ranting about his own social media app

The one-term former US President is said to be furious about the performance of his new social media app Truth Social.

The app, which launched on February 20, had topped Apple’s free apps download chart within 48 hours of its release and spiked at two million users but has since dropped to 300,000 daily visits.

Trump has been very upset at Truth Social’s lack of popularity, according to The Daily Beast, citing two unnamed sources, stating he had been heard on the phone “swearing gratuitously” and asking “what the ****  is going on” with the app.

Trump also demanded to know why the app isn’t swiftly dominating the competition, according to the unnamed sources.

Trump had announced the creation of Truth Social last October after he was banned from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram following the Capitol riot on 6 January last year.

“It’s slowly been opened; people are getting on and they’re loving the product and we’re getting a voice,” the former President told the Right Side Broadcasting Network at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando last month.

“It’s been an incredible success. We have hundreds of thousands of people trying to get on.”

But Truth Social – which is only available to download in the US on Apple – was in 174th place in its chart of top free apps on Tuesday (AEDT).

Time to go back to the drawing board?
