There are three weeks left for full time, part-time and casual residential aged care workers, volunteers engaged by a facility, and students on placement, to have a minimum first dose COVID-19 vaccine to enter their place of work on 17 September (16 September in Victoria).
Only NSW is still to make a Public Health Order. The Public Health Orders by the other States and Territories require all aged care to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and have evidence of a booking to receive, or have received, a second dose from 17 September.
Aged care worker vaccine rates are surging yet 24% of registered residential care workers remain unvaccinated on 25 August, The Weekly Source reported yesterday.
But the State and Territory Governments are assisting aged care workers to get a vaccine.
In Western Australia, a two-week vaccination blitz began on 16 August with a seven-day a week vaccination clinic at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre supporting the expanded vaccine rollout. A vaccine clinic is set to open at Midland’s Centrepoint Shopping Centre on Monday 6 September. In Victoria, priority access is now available for residential aged care and disability care workers to get their COVID-19 vaccine at vaccination centres (pictured below) until Sunday. Victoria also has drive-through vaccine clinics, which must be booked online or by calling the Coronavirus Hotline 1800 675 398.

The South Australia Government has given all Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) staff, contractors and volunteers priority access to COVID-19 vaccination and organised additional vaccination clinics for all RACF staff, contractors and volunteers.
A dedicated aged care vaccine hub at West Lakes Tennis Club is also now open in Adelaide for residential aged care workers. Make an appointment today by calling 1300 542 444.
In Queensland, there are vaccination hubs and centres throughout the State. Book into a vaccination location.
Tasmania is in week two of a ‘Super Six’ and is on track to vaccinate 63% of Tasmanians with their first dose by 12 September. Premier Peter Gutwein said with clinic forward bookings, GP clinics and community pharmacies, it will go beyond the 63% target.
In the Northern Territory, aged care workers can book an appointment by calling a NT COVID-19 vaccine clinic, or making an appointment in a GP Clinic, Respiratory clinic or Community Pharmacy.
