Only in America: Trump and the Republican National Committee up in arms over name usage

0

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is trying to make the most of former President Donald Trump’s name in their fundraising appeals.

But if reports are to be believed, Trump is not having a bar of it.

The Associated Press is reporting the former President has demanded the RNC cease using his name.

The RNC have been using Trump’s name in messages like the following:

“CONGRATULATIONS! You have been selected as one of the FIRST to be invited to claim your Trump Legacy Membership,” read one.

“We NEED 10,000 patriots who will stand with President Trump before midnight tonight. URGENT TRUMP SUPPORTERS NEEDED,” read another.

Compelling as the use of caps lock might be, Trump isn’t happy with the use of his name.

But in a letter to Trump’s attorney, RNC chief counsel J. Justin Riemar defended the practice, saying the RNC, “has every right to refer to public figures as it engages in core, First Amendment-protected political speech.”

Messy business! Who’d want to get into politics?
