Record interest in retirement villages and land lease communities in January

0

Great news from our sister website Villages.com.au.

Figures for January show a record number of people looked for retirement villages and land lease communities on the search portal.

We saw 120,000 visits in the space of a month.

To put that in perspective, that’s 15% growth on January last year.

Villages.com.au also reported an increase in the number of people who took action like contacting a retirement village operator to 18,600, up 44% year on year.

People starting to realise it’s time for a change

So, what does this tell us?

Increased uncertainty brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many people to take stock of their current situation.

We believe many people are looking at the home they currently live in, and wondering if it’s where they want to be in five to 10 years’ time.

When you consider is it ‘safe’ in a pandemic and the many costs and issues associated with maintaining the family home, it’s understandable many are seeking out affordable, age-appropriate housing.

Retirement villages and land lease a tailormade solution

We like to think people are coming around to villages as a solution.

While there remains a perception problem, which we’ve commented on before, the feedback we’ve received from village residents couldn’t be better.

Our DCM Research program showed 79% of 4,600 village residents rated their satisfaction between 8 and 10 out of 10.

People are starting to realise the benefits retirement villages and land lease communities bring, and that’s great news for all Australians.
