Only in America: Donald Trump still refuses to concede as Facebook extends political ad ban

Another week, and more indications that the transition between the Trump and Biden administrations will be anything but smooth.

US President Donald Trump has still refused to concede the election, despite his competitor now nearing 80 million votes.

The US saw a 65% turnout in all eligible voters, the highest since 1908, according to data from the Associated Press and the US Elections Project.

The Trump team has continued to file a string of legally dubious lawsuits, but it’s getting to the point where it seems to only be delaying the inevitable.

Perhaps in response to all the disinformation floating about, Facebook has decided to extend its ban on political advertisements in the US for a least a month.

The social network had started the ban a week before the election, freeing Facebook from making difficult decisions about whether to censor certain material.

“We are keeping the ad pause and other temporary election protection measures in place as that result moves towards certification next month,” said Rob Leathern, director of product management at Facebook.

Seems like a wise decision.
