‘Get Online Week’ helping retirement village residents stay connected during COVID

0

With restrictions a part of life for eight months now, social isolation is a growing concern.

Many retirement village operators are trying to bridge this gap with technology – and Stockland retirement villages in South Australia are a great example.

The operator is embracing technology in their Get Online Week (19 to 25 October) by hosting 50 virtual events. There’s a wide variety of activities on offer from interactive exercise courses to online cooking classes, with the aim to keep residents connected while building on their digital skills.

Stockland’s Acting Operations Manager for South Australia, Christian Macintosh, tells us:

“While restrictions were particularly challenging for some of our residents, technology has continued to play a major role in bringing everyone together as a community.”

“These virtual events support our residents in remaining connected to their friends and family, educate them on how to stay safe online and help them to find reliable information.”

“As a result, they’ll be more entertained, informed and connected than ever before.”

A strong initiative – you can find out more here.
