Can’t get the Age Pension? You may be eligible for other assistance

0

If you are Age Pension age or older, but not able to access the Pension because of your income or assets, you could be able to get other help.

While Australians of Age Pension age aren’t eligible for the Government’s JobSeeker payment – designed to assist people looking for work during the coronavirus pandemic – the Government has made some changes to make it easier for older Australians to access other payments.

You can access Service Australia’s Payment and Service Finder online tool here to determine if you are eligible for any other payments.

These could include the Parenting Payment, Austudy, ABSTUDY, Farm Household Allowance or Special Benefit depending on your circumstances.

The assets tests and waiting periods for all of these payments have been removed during the pandemic to make them easier for Australians to access.

You can also access free financial information through the Government’s Financial Information Service (FIS), Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm on 132 300.
