The not-for-profit Churches of Christ in Queensland is asking everyone to give a virtual thanks to the everyday heroes supporting over 1.2 million older Australians through the coronavirus pandemic.
Nicknamed ‘Thanks for caring’, the campaign is calling on the community to show their support for frontline aged care workers including all of the nurses, personal carers, cleaning staff, lifestyle therapists, maintenance, laundry staff, cooks, allied health professionals and administration staff that have kept working around the clock while most of Australia stays home.
We think it’s a great idea. Many of us are touched by the work of these people – whether it’s the nurse caring for your Mum or Dad, your neighbour who is volunteering at the local aged care home or the home care worker who delivers food and medications to your elderly family members.
A simple ‘thank you’ could make a world of difference to their day.
You can share a message, letter, video or artwork to thank your aged care ‘superhero’ at the Thanks for Caring website here.
You can also post a message of thanks on social media using the hashtag #thanksforcaring so it can be shared and celebrated with their heroes.
