Sitting pretty: QLD woman accidentally ordered 2,000 loo rolls before ‘Great Toilet Paper Crisis’

If your bathroom cupboard is looking a little bare, Haidee Janetzki may have a square to spare.

The Toowoomba woman mistakenly ordered 48 boxes of 48 rolls – rather than her usual order of 48 rolls – from online service ‘Who Gives a Crap’ in early February – before the rush on toilet paper that saw supermarket shelves around the countries emptied of the white stuff.

The family didn’t realise the mistake until the two-pallet order showed up on their doorstep a few days later.

It is estimated the 2,304 rolls – which costs $3,264 instead of $68 (ouch!) – will last the family of five 12 years.

“It’ll take a while to live down,” Haidee told the ABC.

“We’ve told our three daughters that if we’ve still got all this toilet paper when they get married this is what they’ll have as their wedding decorations.”

Who Gives a Crap did offer to take back the unwanted boxes – but the family decided they would sell off the excess loo roll to raise money for their daughter’s school’s trip to Sydney and Canberra later this year.

“Lots of people we know offered to buy them off us,” Haidee added (we wonder why?)

And while they wait for the stock to sell out, the Janetzkis have been having fun – even building a throne for Haidee to acknowledge her rightful position as the ‘Toilet Paper Queen’.

We’ll bow down to that!
