US woman fulfils lifelong wish on 100th birthday – to end up in gaol

After a lifetime of law-abiding behaviour, North Carolina woman Ruth Bryant has ticked off an unusual item on her ‘bucket list’ – to be arrested and sent to gaol.

Two local sheriffs were happy to oblige her request, ‘arresting’ the centenarian at her birthday party at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living Center where she lives.

“Are you Miss Bryant?” a deputy asked as he approached.

“Depends on what you want,” Ruth replied cheekily.

Charged (rather racily) with indecent exposure, Ruth was then cuffed to her walker, taken to gaol in a patrol car with sirens blaring and walked through the whole arrest procedure – from a phone call and mug shot to time in a cell and even an orange jumpsuit – much to her delight.

“I’m in the jailhouse now! I finally got here!” she said.

Returning home, Ruth celebrated her ‘release’ with some cake and a few stories of her time in the slammer.

We’re guessing none of the other residents will be messing with Ruth again.
