Aussie couple quarantined on coronavirus cruise ship gets wine delivered – by drone

One of the biggest headlines from the coronavirus outbreak has been the plight of the Diamond Princess, which has been in lockdown in the port of Yokohama in Japan with more than 3,700 passengers and crew for over a week.

But Australians Jan and Dave Binskin (pictured) haven’t let the situation from stopping them enjoy their holiday, ordering some bottles from Naked Wine Club via a drone.

The couple – who have only been able to leave their cabin for a one-hour walk in five days – found a silver lining in their situation.

“On a lighter note in the middle of the [chaos]yesterday we get a ring from our wine club…we have arranged for 2 cases to be delivered by Drone,” the Binskins wrote on their shared Facebook page.

“Naked Wine Club [you’re] incredible,” they wrote. “Just got the first drop – thank god for drones. The Japanese Coast Guard did not know what the f*** was going on.”

With 175 cases of coronavirus now confirmed on the ship, the Binskins and the other passengers still have another five days to wait for the quarantine to be lifted – but great to see these Aussies are taking it all in their stride.

A toast to them.
